Types of Charging Stations We Serve

OneCore Electric supports install for both commercial and personal use EV charging units. Deciding between the two types? Below is a quick comparison of the two.

Note: the charging speed and power type don’t really vary between wall-mounted and freestanding chargers. Both can use Level 2 power (240 volts AC) and deliver similar charging rates (usually 20–40 miles of range per hour, depending on the vehicle and amperage (typically 30A–50A)).

Wall-Mounted Chargers (Garage or Indoor Use):

  • Best for private homes or reserved parking spots.
  • Installed directly on a wall in a garage or carport.

  • Compact and weather-sealed for semi-outdoor use.

  • Usually Level 2 units tied into your home’s electrical panel.

  • Higher efficiency as shorter wiring runs mean less power loss compared to distant pedestal setups.

Freestanding (Pedestal) Chargers:

  • Suitable for cities, apartment complexes, grocery stores, large shopping centers, and more.

  • Mounted on a stand or bollard instead of a wall.

  • Built for outdoor weather and high use, often with heavier casings and cable management systems.

  • Can support one or two charging ports per pedestal.

  • Easier to access for multiple users and ADA compliance.

  • More expensive as they often often require trenching or concrete mounting.

  • Easier to expand into multi-port or networked systems later on if usage grows.
